Open AI announces the creation of a Japan-specific generative AI model

An executive from US company Open AI has revealed the possible creation of a generative AI model specifically for Japan.

In an exclusive interview with NHK, Open AI COO Brad Lightcap revealed the company's plans to develop a generative AI model capable of understanding Japanese business and culture.

On setting up ChatGpt in Tokyo, “we think it's a place where there's a lot to learn,” said the executive. Before adding, “our goal is to have a generative AI model that fully understands Japanese business, culture and society, and can be used in any application.”

In the long term, “generative AI will be able to restructure the economy in the long term and create considerable value for consumers and the economy.”

Brad Lightcap also spoke of the development of general artificial intelligence (capable of performing cognitive tasks specific to humans).
