Colin HACKWORTH is the founder and President/Representative Director of Nihon Harmony Resorts KK, owner/operator of Hanazono Ski Resort, Niseko Japan, now owned by one of Hong Kong’s largest prestige property developers, Pacific Century Premium Developments (PCPD). Nihon Harmony Resorts KK was first formed in 2004. Colin is currently leading the complete transformation of the Hanazono Ski Resort, with new Hotels, ski lifts and other facilities progressively installed.
Colin is also the CEO of the Australian Ski Areas Association, Australia’s peak industry body representing the interests of Australia’s ski-lifting companies. He has been in that position since 2011 and continues to maintain close contacts in the Australian ski industry.
Prior to the founding of Nihon Harmony Resorts KK Colin was a founding shareholder in the entity Mount Hotham Skiing Company Pty Ltd, established to purchase the Mount Hotham ski resort in Victoria, Australia. As Managing Director he then set about transforming Mount Hotham from a small-scale resort to the thriving resort it is today. Colin oversaw the doubling of the lifted ski resort area with the installation of three new ski lifts, construction of Australia’s highest commercial airport, and presided over the implementation of a new “hot resort beds” real estate strategy designed to drive increased visitation. Colin also participated in the purchase of Mount Hotham’s neighbouring resort, Falls Creek, in 1997, and became Managing Director of both.
