Cyberattacks and other new threats: know, prepare, react

How many companies face cyberattacks every year? It is impossible to assess since victims, for obvious reputation reasons, will generally not come forward after being hacked. But the individual experience of being attacked, academic literature, and independent investigative reports lead to conclude that no company and no individual can call themselves “safe” in cyberspace. Just over the last 3 months in Japan, the press revealed that Japan’s space agency, Crypto exchange DMM and media company Kadokawa, among others, have suffered cyberattacks or ransomware attacks. According to Checkpoint, attacks in Asia-Pacific have increased by 23% in the last quarter. According to cybersecurity consultant Kaspersky, Japan is the 7^th most-attacked country in the world.

What is the current state of the cyberthreats? How vulnerable are we? How to prepare against cyberthreats? How to respond once we are targeted?

These are some of the questions to which the guest speakers of Cyberattacks and other new threats: know, prepare, react will answer. On September 13 (Fri.), 6 pm, at CCI France Japon, SANOFI Asia-Pacific regional security director Loic Frouart and BOLLORE LOGISTICS North Asia CEO Fabien Giordano, both veterans in this field, will share years of knowledge and experience with the audience.

Loic Frouart has a military (operations mainly in Foreign Legion and general staff), diplomatic service and intelligence background. He has a solid experience in Asian affairs (strategic analysis, risk / vulnerability assessment, and risk prevention) based upon successive positions in diplomatic service and private sector for 20+ years. Loic joined the private sector in 2012 in China in Carrefour China Risk Prevention team where he assumed the positions of Deputy, and then China Chief Security Officer. Since 2015, he is Asia-Pacific regional security director for Sanofi. In his role, he is in charge of the protection of Sanofi People, Assets and Products for the benefit of the patients.

Fabien Giordano is a seasoned leader with over 25 years of international experience in Asia, with 15 years as Regional CEO in both North and Southeast Asia. Fabien has a proven track record in managing security and risk in challenging environments, and a robust background in risk management and intelligence studies. He holds a Master of Arts in Intelligence Studies (Cybersecurity) from American Military University, a Certificate in Cybersecurity from Harvard University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Intelligence Studies (Criminal Intelligence) from American Military University.
