Discover the excellence of Himeji leather: an exclusive immersion into a Japanese tannery, where traditional craftsmanship meets modern techniques.

Our Kansai office invites you to explore Japan’s leather industry and discover the ancestral expertise of Himeji.

The day will begin with a seminar led by our Administrator, Emmanuel Marchat, focusing on Japan’s luxury leather industry. It will be followed by an exclusive visit to Sanyo Leather tannery, a true showcase of local craftsmanship.

For nearly 1,000 years, Himeji has upheld the tradition of "tannage blanc", an ancient leatherworking technique originating in the region. This fully natural, chemical-free process relies on local resources from the Harima area: the river’s water, its salt, and a mild climate with a balance of warmth and moderate rainfall.
