Romain Troublé has degrees in 2 different fields — a Master in molecular biology from the Sorbonne, and a Master in business administration from HEC - Telecom Paris. As a professional sailor, he participated in regattas at the highest level — twice in the America's Cup French challenges in 2000 and 2003 in Auckland, NZ. He worked from 2003 to 2006 for a company specialized in polar logistics, organizing sports and scientific expeditions in the Arctic, Antarctica and Siberia, including the discovery of frozen mammoths in permafrost. Since 2004 he has been in charge of the operational management of Tara expeditions, and since 2009, serves as executive director of the Tara Ocean Foundation.
Since 2017, Romain is also president of the Ocean Climate Platform which brings together more than 105 institutions, foundations, companies, and associations working on advocacy for the ocean’s role on climate and biodiversity issues. He is Co-Chair of the Pink Flamingo Society gathering private oceanographic foundations and President of the Beyond Plastic Med association in Monaco since 2021.
