Finding the Right Posture – A Japanese Cultural Metaphor for Facing Work with Intention
In today’s business world, we are constantly pushed to prioritize speed and efficiency. Yet, in the midst of this fast-paced environment, we rarely pause to reflect on our own posture — not only physically, but also mentally and emotionally — in how we engage with our work and with others.

This seminar is part of a full-day experience in re-examining our posture through a metaphorical application of traditional Japanese cultural practices.

In this afternoon session, we shift our focus outward through the Way of Tea (茶の湯). Participants will experience the subtle and elegant posture that arises in human connection — through attentiveness, silence, and the beauty of mindful hospitality. The simple act of preparing and serving tea becomes a powerful metaphor for Japanese-style communication.

This seminar is inspired by Mr. Jérôme Chouchan, President of the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Japan, who has famously applied the metaphor of Kyūdō (Japanese archery) to branding — “aiming at the invisible” as a way of creating meaningful connection. His work stands as a successful example of how Japanese culture can be metaphorically applied in modern business contexts.

In this seminar, we aim to translate and reinterpret Japanese embodied wisdom to help participants cultivate posture, presence, and perception in the workplace.
